Need a Dynotag on something we don’t make a tag for? Flex Tags let you put the power of a Dynotag on virtually any printed surface — business cards, posters, large stickers, packaging, even cakes, tile work, or a tattoo.
What is a Flex Tag?
A Flex Tag is a complete, fully functional Dynotag with no physical tag attached. You own it and load it with whatever information you like, exactly like any other Dynotag — but instead of us shipping you metal or a sticker, you print it yourself on whatever surface fits your project.
It works because every Dynotag actually lives in the Dynotag Cloud Service. The physical item only needs to carry the tag’s unique web address and matching QR code. Scan the code or type the address, and the tag’s page opens in any web browser — no app required.
Why use a Flex Tag?
- Any surface, any size. If you can print on it, you can put a Flex Tag on it.
- Perfect for one-offs and small runs. No minimums — ideal when you just need a few, or want to prototype before a larger order.
- Always editable. Update the tag’s contents anytime; the printed code never changes.
- Get notified. See when someone scans your tag, with optional location.
⚠️ Please don’t use a Flex Tag for medical information
We strongly advise against putting medical records on a Flex Tag. In an emergency, responders look for a recognizable medical symbol before they ever scan anything. A self-printed Flex Tag on a business card or sticker carries no such marking, so critical health information on one could easily be missed when it matters most. For medical use, always choose one of our purpose-built Medical ID tags — they carry clear medical symbology designed to be spotted by first responders.
How to create a Flex Tag
It takes a Dynotag Credit, and every new free account comes with one to get you started:
- Create a free account at dynotag.com and sign in.
- Go to the Apps page, click Create Flex Tag, and follow the prompts.
- Load your info, then grab the tag’s QR code — view the tag’s page, or append .qr to its web address (for example, dynotag.com/1000-8175.qr) to download a print-ready image.
- Design and print your business card, sticker, or label using that QR code and web address.
Printing tips
- Always print the web address as text too — don’t rely on the QR code alone, in case a scan fails.
- Keep the QR code perfectly square so it scans cleanly, and use the right sticker type (laser vs. inkjet) for your printer.
- For DIY stickers, protect the finished label with a strip of clear shipping tape.
- Always scan the finished item to confirm it opens your tag before you rely on it.
